Screen turns eyeball burning vivid yellow sometimes when I turn it on.

Sometimes when I turn my computer on - and after it finally ready for use (dashboard and desktop items all in place - instead of my wallpaper I see an eye-burning vivid yellow screen. I can get my wallpaper when I go into settings and choose it, but why doesn't my wallpaper come up automatically every time? The most recent two updates brought this problem. I have an iMac 3.6 GHzQuad-Core Intel Core 13 with 8GB 2400 MHz DDR4 and Sonoma 14.4.1.
