ipad pro m2 freezing up while typing and auto typing words

i have the ipad pro m2 12.9. i bought it new less than a month ago. at first it was fine but now im having issues while typing. whenever i type at an average speed, the keyboard starts to freeze up and whenever it unfreezes it auto types out a bunch of what seems to be suggested words. i tried turning of predictive text to see if that fixes it and it does. however, when i turn that off i no longer have access to the shortcut keys [cut, copy, undo, redo]
