Calendar search does not work. Calendar is not even listed as an option in Spotlight system settings.

I've searched these forums far and wide and found better info on Reddit but still no solution.

Monterrey 12.7.4

Spotlight in general works fine - results from Safari, Maps, Mail, App Store, Documents, etc.

No results in calendar

I tried to reindex Spotlight for Calendar using the Privacy on/off trick by dragging the Documents folder in my user Library into the Privacy frame. But Spotlight in the Calendar still shows no results. And the Calendar folder/app does NOT show in the Search Results window of Spotlight.

I also tried this:

  1. Open Settings for Calendar on macOS
  2. Go to Accounts tab
  3. Uncheck Enable this account
  4. Check Enable this account

Again, no Spotlight results.

The only "solution" that I've read that works is to reinstall Monterey or upgrade to Ventura. I can't believe I have to update the OS just to fix a basic function that worked for me for years.

Any other ideas before I give up and spend time upgrading to Ventura?

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Then try this in Terminal...

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -lint -r -f -v -dump -domain local -domain system -domain user -domain network

killall Dock

sudo mdutil -E /

sudo mdutil -i on /

Rebuilding a drive index can take a long time, so be prepared to wait whether you do it through the System Preference panel or the command line.
