Keyboard typing numbers without me pressing the 123 button in the middle of texting or typing words

When I am texting or doing any typing on my phone with the keyboard that slides up from the bottom randomly the keys will switch to the number set of keys and begin typing numbers and symbols. It has happened three times so far while typing this. Is there a way to fix this? I went from an 8 to a 15 and this happened the first day I got the 15 and every day since. Not an issue I ever had with my 8!

Are any other screen touches mis-reading? Or is this just the keyboard?

Any screen -protective film or any protective case here? If so, remove all that and test again.

Otherwise, make an appointment and bring it into Apple.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then tap Haptic Touch or 3D & Haptic Touch. Choose the touch duration—Fast or Slow. On an iPhone with 3D Touch, you can also choose the pressure needed—Light, Medium, or Firm. Test your new settings on the image at the bottom of the screen.
