Can't move files from OneDrive - "couldn't communicate with a helper application."

I want to move all my files on OneDrive to Google Drive or my Macbook Pro (running Sonoma 14.4.1). I can't open or move them as I get "Couldn't communicate with a helper application." I want to uninstall OneDrive to avoid this confusion. The files are primarily .docx files. Thank you for any assistance.
