Apple Card Refusing to Refund Interest
I always pay my apple card balance in full. Last week I paid my balance and accidentally paid too much. 2k above what should be. I contacted Apple Card Support within minutes to cancel the payment and the only option given to me by the support was to contact the bank and stop the payment. Then I asked about the interest charge. They said I will be charged interest but I can get it waived if I contacted them again. Here's the response from the Apple Card Specialist.
Wanting to make sure, I called the customer support instead of chatting and asked will I be getting a full refund for the interest charge. Their answer was "Yes".
Today, after making the correct payment, I called the Apple Card Customer Service to get the interest waived. To my surprise, they said I can only get up to $25 as a courtesy and there's nothing they can do about it. I spoke to a supervisor and their answer was the same.
Now I'm forced to pay $170+ interest for a mistake both of the specialists made by not giving me the correct information. There's nothing they can do other than saying "we understand your frustration"
Supervisor escalated the incident to the upper management and said I'll hear back within 5 to 10 days.
Had the Customer Service Specialists given me the right information, I would've let the extra payment I made go through.
Bottom line, "Apple card specialist made me take a certain course of actions based of false information and I'm forced to pay for their mistake now".
I never expected this from Apple. Loved my apple card up until this point. Even started using Copilot Money to manage my budge because CPM is the only personal financing app that supports Apple Card. I guess it's time to get a different Credit Card.
I'll let you know what happens.
