Missing Remote Media in iMovie

Why does a picture I insert directly from Photos in the My Media section of iMovie 10.3.8, get replaced with "Missing Remote Media”?

Pictures in iMovie When I transfer (some pictures) from my photo library to an actual iMovie,some come up black with a little dot in the middle. I can't figure out how to fix it- or why it does that for some and not for others.

iMovie Features not working Since updating to 18.3 iMovie features aren't working. It lets me add photos etc but won't respond and just stays on the same photo without moving on. I've done the later update 18.3.1 and tried deleting and reinstalling the app but nothing... help!
