I updated my 2012 MacBook Air 4GB from MacOS 10.13 High Sierra to MacOS 10.15 Catalina, and it has been stuck for about 12 hours. The loading bar is about 40% of the way through, and it says “Estimating time remaining”. I’ve tried booting it into safe mode, but it gets stuck at the same spot.
Any fixes?

Suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space on the drive.
It will allow the Full Version ( about 12.xx GB ) to download, then expand and then commence to install.
If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.
It will interfere with both the download and installation process.
Hold the Power Button until it goes Off
Disconnect all external drives
Connect to charger
Hold Shift key and power up the computer
If lucky, Safe Boot may or may not allow the Upgrade to finish, hopefully successfully 🤞
It’s already stuck on the update, and I can't choose to boot from Macintosh HD instead of Catalina Installer, it just shows an X. It there a way to force the update to stop?
