I’m trying to download several free apps from the App Store onto my iPad Pro (ios 17.4.1) and an error message pops up saying “Payment Not Completed”. This has never happened before. I am signed in to my account. There don’t seem to be any settings that will affect downloads (iPad doesn’t have cell data). Thoughts?

It is possible that you have a previous charge that was never paid for. Check with Apple directly to see if there is another issue preventing you from using the App Store. A payment method may still be required even to download free apps. When you add a payment method, you may see a previous charge if there was one pending.

You can still use that same link to contact Apple directly and they will have much more information about why the transaction could not be completed.
That's not the issue. There are payments methods available and I've downloaded other free things since any purchases.
FWIW, I was able to download the apps to my iPhone and they propagated to the iPad so there is that option as a workaround. But I'd rather the App Store simply work for my iPad...
