Youtube restarts Apple TV 4k randomly

This has been happening for over an year already, multiple updates on TVOs and YouTube and still happening. Every now and then when you start playing a video on youtube app, the video start and after a couple of seconds the apple tv fully shuts down and restrarts again. video starts playing again.

I thought it was because i have youtube premium and something triggered a pre-roll ad, but it also happens on my sons account which is not premium...

I've seen posts here since 2020 of people with the same issue and looks like its still not resolved.

Try turning off the Match Frame Rate and Match Dynamic Range settings in Video Settings. I suspect that the temporary blackout is from the change in HDMI signal between segments with different frame rate and/or dynamic range. By forcing a fixed frame rate and fixed dynamic range, the TV won’t have to adjust several times.

Is it just that the screen is black for a while,

or are you talking about a real device restart, where the status light goes off, then blinks, then glows continuously again?

The screen goes black, the sound stops and you get the spinning blue ring on the screen, then comes back after a couple of seconds. And the video starts playing.
