“Card is not eligible for Apple Pay” message while adding my card in Apple wallet

I live in Memphis, TN, i just received my EBT CARD in the mail and was trying to figure out how to add it to my wallet after googling if it can be and them saying it can be added and it wont add it are they not allowed on there? Or is there something more I need to do. I went into wallet app, then I clicked on “add a new debit or credit card”, Typed my name and card number, then hit next and it throws a message that says “Card is not eligible for Apple Pay”

Each State has their own rules on how the administer the EBT card. You will need to check with them to see if it is eligible to add to your Wallet app. Many states do allow it, but not sure about Tennessee. Given the message you received, it appears that Tennessee does not.

The most current information I could find is that only these states support Apple Pay and digital wallets, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, and Vermont.

Do you know for certain your state supports Apple Pay for EBT cards?
