Switching Carriers and Paying Off My Phone

I purchased my iPhone 14 Pro through Apple and connected it to my existing T-Mobile plan. I am still paying on the phone, but I want to switch because T-Mobile put me on a 55+ plan that I didn't qualify for (I set it up in store and they knew I was not 55+) and now they are changing my plan which will increase my bill by over $50 a month. Can I trade it in through Apple, apply the trade in to my balance with T-Mobile and switch carriers to ATT? Is there is method to this madness?

Note...my SIM is unlocked. I owe $314.32.
