My MacBook Air has bubbles and flickering lines on the screen after 18 months

Our MacBook purchased in June 22 has developed faults on the screen. Started as large bubble appearances and now flickering lines. Nothing spilt on it.

Apple support tell me it’s out of the 1 year warranty and I will need to take it to a store for them to look at. Surely the screens should not fail after 18 months? Any other users had this situation?
