UNABLE TO DEAUTHORIZE COMPUTERS

I'm trying to set up my Home Sharing but Apple tells me I have 5 computers authorized. Forums tell me to go the Account/Account Settings in Music or Apple TV to view "Computer Authorizations", which is supposedly listed under "Apple ID Summary", right under Country/Region.

This is not the case here. "Computer Authorizations" is NOT showing in my "Apple ID Summary", neither in Music or AppleTV so I'm unable to verify how many computers are authorized.

Furthermore, when I try to "Deauthorize" my macbook, it tells me that it is not authorized. When I select "Authorize", it tells me again that I can't authorize more than 5 computers. I do not even have that many devices/computers.

Please review Authorize or deauthorize your computer for Apple ID purchases - Apple Support.

The instructions in that dialog would benefit from some improvement. I suggest the following instead.

On that Mac, open either the Music app or the TV app. Doesn't matter which. Then, select its Account menu > View My Account...

In the window that opens, you will see Computer Authorizations. It will indicate the number of computers (not just Macs) that have been authorized to play your Apple iD purchased content. Most likely, it indicates the maximum of 5. As you wrote, if don't even have that number of devices, you can choose to Deauthorize All.

  • We may only "Deauthorize All" once a year so use that option with discretion.

Then, authorize your MacBook and any other devices you need to authorize according to the instructions in your screenshot.

I was referring to the way Apple worded that dialog — not you.

Your screenshot should definitely show Computer Authorizations directly below Country/Region, with a corresponding Deauthorize All button accompanying it, resembling the one shown in that Apple Support document:

Since that option does not appear in your Account Information we are unable to proceed. You will need to contact Apple Support and have them resolve it: Official Apple Support. Please let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, and you're probably right about how I worded it. That said, not only does it NOT indicate the number of Computer Authorizations, but it also does show the option to Deauthorize All. I've attached a screen shot of my Account Information screen. And yes, I scrolled all the way through and there's no mention of computer authorizations. Is there an alternative method view authorized computers and/or deauthorize them?
