Will synching delete my full iTunes library on the iPad?

i have a large song library on my iPad, backed up to the cloud, and just remembered I could get music I own on cd via my old MacBook, which has a cd drive. I want it in iTunes. And that old app is on the MacBook. Having done that I could synch the MacBook to my iPad but it doesn’t have all the other songs on the Mac. Will synching delete my full iTunes library on the iPad? If so how can I repopulate the iPad with all my songs, and keep any I get from cds? . I’m frankly terrified of synching in case I lose the lot! Thank you

Hi,

I think you should start with getting all your music on your computer and backup on an external drive. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPo… - Apple Community.

Note specific comment “A short subscription to Apple Music is an alternative approach to copying the music you have on a iOS device into an iCloud Music Library that can then be downloaded to a computer.”
