Logic Pro - Limiter Connundrum!

Hey folks. I've been using Logic Pro for a very long time, and it's been the best and easiest way for me to be able to facilitate a quick and effective recording session. I've also been using my Rode NT-1A microphone for well over a decade, and though is a bit on the weathered side, I would prefer not to part with it. That being said, I have noticed that it tends to be extremely sensitive when picking up vocals. To deal with this, I would like to record takes with the Limiter plug-in in real time, and have that be the WAV file that I see in the track. Right now, plug-in effects are only applied to an existing take; at least, that's how I've used them.

Essentially, I'd like to use the limiter plug-in as a preamp function. Is there any way at all to be able to do that?

Yes, but it does call for a bit of Environment work. Open the Audio layer in the Environment. Select the New drop down, go to the bottom and select channel strip/Input. This is where you will install the compressor as an Insert and then select the input and output channels.

Caveat: This is still available in my version of Logic 10.4.4, not interested in any of the new stuff. It's possible it may be easier to do in a newer version. Also possible I'm forgetting something! :-)
