unable to pin chats on whatsapp under IOS 17.4.1

Sadly this takes me to the Whatsapp FAQs....which I have gone thru a few times and they don't solve the problem. I strongly suspect it is a bug! Earlier I could simply swipe right and it would shown "pin" and i could pin the chat ( not just a line of the message) . Now it pops a message when I do that which says "can only pin 3 messages" even though I haven't pinned any message!

Having gone on the link you sent, I reached the "contact us page" of WhatsApp. I don't know whether this is a iOS issue or a WhatsApp issue but by now its a problem escalated to both as far as i am concerned hoping one of them of both can provide a solution. WhatsApp haven't either acknowledged this problem nor do i find a solution in their contact us page. I have however escalated the problem to WhatsApp on "contact support" link in the settings section of the app itself.
