How to fix MacBook Pro keyboard mapping issues?

My MacBook Pro is acting weird. I just updated it yesterday to Sonoma so I could use my Adobe products and now it’s not allowing me to type with certain keys. example if I press “A” it highlights Finder, “Q” pulls up Notes, and “E” pulls up Emojis. I have to type this out on my phone because it’s impossible to type on the keyboard. Plus anytime I click on the desktop it forms a gray box around. Please help!

As Grant Bennet-Alder suggests, seemingly a stuck modifier key — i.e., the Fn or Globe key, which enables the three specific letter-key shortcuts you mention.

Plus anytime I click on the desktop it forms a gray box around.

If you mean around the entire desktop, could be caused by having the following set to "Always".

 -- > Desktop & Dock --> Desktop & Stage Manager --> Click wallpaper to reveal desktop
