Macbook Pro blank screen

I've been having a problem with my MacBook Pro for about two months now. It used to have a glitch where if I didn't put it to sleep and it went to sleep itself, it wouldn't turn back on when I opened it. It's now escalated to the point where it doesn't display anything on the screen. However I have used Voice Assistant to figure out that everything behind the scenes is working (ie I can login, navigate around using keyboard controls) but I can't see anything.

I have a new MacBook so I would like to transfer data from the old one to the new one but at the very least I want to wipe the old one so I can safely take it to e-waste.

I have tried forced restarts/PRAM multiple times, have also connected it to my new Mac but I need to turn on file sharing before I can access anything on my new Mac. I've also plugged in HDMI but nothing comes through. I just need it to work for a short time so I can retrieve what I need and then wipe it.

Any tips?
