AirTag wont work with new battery

Air tags won’t work with anti-swallow bitter coating like Duracell has on its 2032 batteries. You need to wipe the bitter coating off with Isopropyl Alcohol. Has Apple fixed this problem?

Air tags dead after first battery change This has happened to me three times. Received notification of low battery for AirTag, changed battery according to instructions by Apple and AirTag is dead. No sound when inserting battery, will not connect with app. Tried different batteries, all new and nothing. Replaced with old low battery and still dead. It’s like changing the battery at all kills device. Any ideas?

Apple has already mentioned that using replacement batteries with bitterant coatings may not work properly with their AirTags. Whether or not, Apple will "fix" this is unknown.
