Screen Time Requests Being Sent Through Messages… Again

Some time last year Screen Time requests started coming through Messages and then in late March the requests reverted back to the previous Screen Time specific notification. As of Sunday (5/12) Screen Time Requests are now coming through Messages again.

While the mechanics are mostly the same, the Screen Time specific notifications had the advantage of working on macOS. The Messages notifications (and subsequent messages) cannot be approved through the notification and attempting to view them in the Messages app causes the app to hang. On the other hand, having the notifications in Messages provides a nice log of previous requests and whether they were approved and for how long (when there are multiple approvers, this can be useful).

Is there any documentation on how requests are supposed to work?
