How to fix persistent AOL password request on Mac mini

When I open my Mac mini, I'm required to re-enter my AOL password to see my email even when I check 'Stay signed in' and 'Stay verified'. Called AOL Support and was pointed back at Apple. Why now? I haven't had this problem in years using my AOL account for email.

Thanks. By far the best way to solve Mail authentication problems is to remove the problematic account(s), and add them again. Refer to If you can’t send or receive email on Mac - Apple Support.

AOL is one of the available options, so try that first. If all else fails you may need to contact AOL for assistance, because I did a cursory check of their help pages and they don't have much to say about the Mail app.

Another potential resource is Mail - Official Apple Support. It has a "Mail Settings Lookup" feature. Try that also.
