iphone 11 pro intermittent disconnect from wireless carplay

Hi, I have an iPhone 11 pro with iOS 17.4 when connected to my power acoustik head unit wirelessly it would disconnect intermittently. verified that my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth has to be connected in order for CarPlay to work properly and I did notice when my Wi-Fi connection is lost is when CarPlay goes offline. then will try to reconnect Wi-Fi and will get a message of "unable to join network". i tried my friends iPhone 15 pro and have no connection issue I did notice that his phone only needs the Bluetooth connection to have CarPlay working properly. his phone is also on iOS 17.4

things I have tried:

restarted phone

forget device and reregister device

factory rest my head unit (I assume my head unit is working per using my friends new iPhone 15)

double checked all my connections on the head unit

wifi connection to my home network works perfectly fine

not quite sure what else I should try before getting a new phone

If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is turned on, tap Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car and then tap Forget This Car.

If you're still having trouble with your car's audio system using CarPlay or Bluetooth, try the Aux cable. To get it fixed, there are two options:

  1. Try using a different Lightning cable to connect your iPhone to the car's USB port (even though you're using wireless CarPlay, a faulty cable can sometimes interfere with Bluetooth).
    1. Search for accessories that have completed MFi certification. Once an accessory has completed MFi certification requirements and is reported to Apple as sold/distributed, it will be searchable in our public database of authorized Lightning, headset, charging, iAP-enabled, and Find My network-enabled accessories.
      1. https://mfi.apple.com/account/accessory-search
      2. Learn how to identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning-based accessories.
  2. Turn off Wi-Fi on your iPhone. While your friend's iPhone 15 Pro might not require it, some CarPlay systems might have a bug where Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity conflict.
  3. Check for Bluetooth interference. Move your phone to a different location in your car and see if the disconnects continue. Try turning off other Bluetooth devices you might have in the car.
  4. This resets all your Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth connections, and VPN settings. It might help if there's a corrupted setting causing the issue. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Make sure you know your Wi-Fi passwords before performing this step. Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings: Only network settings are removed.
    1. When you reset network settings, previously used networks and VPN settings that weren’t installed by a configuration profile or mobile device management (MDM) are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and Ask to Join Networks settings remain turned on.
    2. To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the configuration profile, then tap Remove Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts provided by the profile. See Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone in this guide.
    3. To remove network settings installed by MDM, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the management, then tap Remove Management. This also removes other settings and certificates provided by MDM. See “Mobile device management (MDM)” in the iOS Deployment Reference.
    4. Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.
