Has anyone gotten the Gift card inner card GCA does not match GCA code on the outer envelope resolved when you don't have the receipt?

I bought a gift card at Walgreens. The card GCA number does match the sleeve and Walgreens creates the activation code base on the sleeve GCA number. I thought the activation receipt would be enough if I ran into any problems so I threw the original itemized receipt away. When we realized the issues I called Apple who sent me to Walgreens who sent me back to Apple. I was transferred to a supervisor who asked that I upload pic of the gift card, sleeve, and receipt. I thought the activation receipt would be good enough but it was not because a few hours later, I got an email saying my case was unresolved because they needed more info. I called back and was told they need a receipt. When I said I threw it out, they said I could get the electronic ledger from Walgreens. I had to go through Walgreens 1-800 support but they called the store and got what I needed for me.

I uploaded the ledger to Apple and a few hours later got an email saying I didn't have enough Info, again. I called back and was told the ledger didn't have the store address on it. This same supervisor said the only thing that I could provide was the itemized receipt but two other supervisors said the electronic ledger or invoice would be enough. Being that my GC is for $500, I have no choice but to keep pursuing this. So I went back to Walgreens, got the ledger printed on letterhead and uploaded it again to Apple.

And again, I was told they don't have enough information from me. I called back and they said they never received the electronic ledger (which is not true because they got the first one without letterhead) so I am once again waiting to hear if they believe me. I offered to show my bank statement that matches the exact amount on the electronic ledger but that was not good enough either to demonstrate that I am telling the truth.

Can anyone confirm they got this resolved without the itemized receipt? I have submitted this claim 4 times now, I have been told different things. And I know lots of other people have had problems with the GCA numbers not matching because I've been searching forums to see if anyone got this worked out.

Why can’t the Walgreens store reprint the receipt? I’ve worked in retail on and off since the 1970’s. I’ve never worked in a retail store, that the store (manager) couldn’t reprint the receipt. This includes an Apple Store Manager (I’m retired). This issue seems way more complicated than it needs to be.

I’m over 65 and on Medicare. I need receipts for my prescriptions for tax purposes. I’ve several times had to go into my local Walgreens and request a reprint of the receipt. This has never been an issue. It’s an inconvenience for the manager, but they understand. I just don’t see how this has escalated into such an issue.

It really doesn’t matter how many people in the past have resolved this issue. What matters is you resolving the issue. Have you talked to store manager at the Walgreens you purchased the gift card at?

Walgreens said they can't reprint the receipt because it was more than 30 days ago (I was two days past) but they did print me the digital ledger. I submitted that along with all the other paperwork Apple asked me to send and I once again got a "We cannot resolve your case" email from Apple. (Even though at least two supervisors said it should be approved and they would send me a new activation code.) That's all the info they give me. They didn't say if that card had been redeemed (by someone other than me) or if there was just a problem with activating in general or what. I talked to a gift card supervisor and he would not escalate any further. He said my only recourse is to write Apple a letter. So now I am left with contacting my bank and filing a dispute. Luckily my bank support is way better than Apple customer service. They already issued a temp credit for the $500 and are investigating.

That’s interesting because I’ve gone back to a Walgreens 6 months later when doing my taxes and they had no issue reprinting a receipt.

I would follow through on writing a letter to Apple and add a copy of the documentation you’ve obtained up to this point. A wouldn’t have high hopes for the dispute going in your favor. The temporary credit is required by law (Fair Credit Reporting Act) and I really have doubts the dispute will be decided in your favor.
