Grep search in Pages?

A Find and Replace for "backslash n backslash n" (\n\n) finds two paragraph returns, so I can replace two paragraph returns with one. Is there a similar trick for finding all digits (numbers)? I want to remove numbered paragraphs (as in 1., 2., 3., etc.) from text pasted in from outside sources.

There is no regular expression support in Pages, but there is in a Word or LibreOffice writer Find/Replace tool. You could export your Pages document as docx, and use the more powerful Find/Replace in either alternative application to fix your content, save that document and then reopen the Word document in Pages.

You might check in Pages if your external paste by introducing those numbered paragraphs triggered Pages to treat them as a Numbered List. If true, then you might be able to remove those paragraph numbers from the content by setting Pages List to None. That is a long shot though.
