Text tone on lock screen doesn't work

when i receive text notification or any notification other than a call when my phone is on the lock screen it doesn't make a sound, however the text appears in the notification centre and will make a sound on my apple watch, i have been searching for hours on this and cant seem to find why, if ia m not on the lock screen it plays the notification absolutely no issue

my son and daughter who both have iphones it is fine for them anyone can help will make an old man very happy as its driving me insane,

No sound on text messages being received when iphone screen is locked I'm running IOS 16.1 and I'm not hearing any sounds when a text message is received if my screen is locked. My connected apple watch is working fine. There are no messages (banners) coming to the locked screen either.

Do not get text sound when wearing watch and have phone When I am at home, wearing my Apple Watch and carrying my iPhone, I do not get a sound when I receive a text. But, when I am away from home I do get the notice.
