Wynk Music app appeared in “Recently Downloaded “ apps with no explanation

Randomly I checked “recently downloaded “ apps and found “Wynk Music” app downloaded. I thought it was one of the music apps I already had that may have changed their name and logo.

It was an entirely different app that I had not downloaded. How I can to this conclusion was I clicked the app and the word “sign in” appeared then disappeared and did not allow me to “sign in”.

through a google search I found that this app called “Wynk Music “ is an app from India and the App Store customizes what apps are available depending on geography and that the availability of certain apps may be affected by VPN.

I thought maybe I clicked on a random text link or email link or social media link that downloaded this “Wynk Music” app. I searched the AppStore and this music app was not available for download. The app was red in color and had a Treble Clef symbol in the middle of the app as part of the logo.

Thinking this was a nefarious app, I then proceeded to immediately delete said app. I am not sharing my Apple cloud membership with anyone though I do have a family plan (for the 2T storage).

I’ve had recent ongoing issues with random restarts of my iPhone. Apple’s insurance replaced the back of my phone. The restarts continued. Apple sent me a new phone. The restarts continued. Apple support suggested the iPhone be backed up to a computer, the phone erased, reset, and data reinstalled. The restarts continued.

What’s more an audio version of anticipatory speech was occurring when a text was in the process of being sent, like the phone had turrets syndrome. While typing on a text keyboard, the iPhone would anticipate what was being typed and audibly blurt out random words from the anticipated text being typed. This problem was resolved with the help of a diligent Apple support personnel.

the restarts continue however, about one to three times per day.

Does anyone have any insights as to the restarts and now this mysterious download (that I did not do) of the “Wynk Music” app from India (I am in the USA)?

Thank you in advance from anyone experiencing similar restarts and how (if) you resolved the issue beyond what I shared above. And also if anyone else experienced a download of Wynk Music in the USA when rhis app is not available in the USA.

While smartphones themselves can't harbor malicious intent, we must actively fortify their defenses. Tighten your device settings, be mindful of how you sync, and protect your digital treasure trove by safeguarding sensitive information with your loved ones. Don't underestimate the power of simple security measures. Employ strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and regularly update software.

However, the vulnerabilities lie in our usage and connectivity. Unsecured settings, careless syncing, and oversharing sensitive information can transform this innocuous device into a Trojan horse for attackers. Vigilance is key.

If you feel an unauthorized person/app is remotely using, controlling or monitoring your device, then that is possible only if you have done one or more of the following Don'ts...

  1. Don't hand over an iPhone to kids or to a stranger without Enabling Guided Access
  2. Don't share Apple IDs
  3. Don't Jailbreak
  4. Don't share sensitive information pertaining to your device
  5. Don't give in to Phishing
  6. Don't plug in your device in Airports and Public places through third-party cables and trust the device. Beware of Juice Jacking. (Especially in India)
  7. Don't leave your iPhone unlocked and unattended in public places like offices, schools, malls, etc.

If one of the above is true then quickly change the Apple ID Password and Return iPhone settings to their defaults.

The apps you see in the App Store are based on the country setting of your Apple ID, not your current location.

Thank you for the thorough explanation of possible outcomes when security isn’t fortified. The restart issue has been going on for years and the replacement of the back of the phone the replacement of the phone itself and restarting the phone deleting to factory default settings, and reinstalling from the cloud, have netted zero improvements as the phone continues its campaign of randomly restarting. This is a very annoying occurrence and so far I have been learning to live with it however, with the predictive text that was being verbalized that is now cured, there must be some type of interaction between the apps , like clicking links to social media on websites in rapid succession, causing the phone to restart or clicking the camera app while listening to a radio app while using the cellular Internet sometimes causes the phone to restart and things you would think that the phone can handle with multiple apps, simultaneously engaged , the phone should handle such usage. But for some reason, this phone randomly restarts and barring getting all new apps with all new emails with all new accounts with all new hardware, I am uncertain as to how to resolve the best answer I have from Apple support is to reset to factory settings , and make the phone like it’s a brand new phone and then download from the iCloud all the apps back to the phone and hope for the best. I’ve done this on several occasions only to reduce the amount of restarts, but the phone still restarts.
