Airplay on my iphone 14 to my mac
I can screen mirror my iphone 14 to any TV at my apartment but I cannot to my MacBook air 13. It doesn’t even show me the option on the control center. I have try everything… Why is this?!?

It can if it is a Mac that meets the system requirements for being an AirPlay Receiver for AirPlay to Mac. This is a feature that came along long after the original AirPlay from Mac (to a device such as an Apple TV set-top box).

As Mr. Jones noted, among MacBook Airs, only those introduced in 2018 or later, running Monterey or later, meet the requirements.

See “Devices you can stream to” here.

What year Macbook Air?
Per this Apple article,
System requirements for Continuity features on Apple devices - Apple Support
Airplay to Mac requires your Macbook Air to be introduced in 2018 or later and running macOS "Monterrey."

Apple released several MacBook Airs between 2015 and 2020.
What does > About This Mac say about the hardware model release date of yours?

Would you prefer that Apple have never released AirPlay to Mac at all? Those "annoying" hardware and software updates are the reason why newer Macs can be AirPlay Receivers for AirPlay to Mac.
A Google search suggests that there are several third-party applications that can turn older Macs into AirPlay receivers, of a sort. They included these three. This is not a recommendation, just a FYI. I don't know how well any of these applications work, nor whether any of them support AirPlay v2. (The original AirPlay topped out at 1920x1080 resolution; not surprising given that the original Apple TV set-top box was an accessory for HDTVs.)

If you search the App Store for the term "mirroring", you may find others. That search term brings up more apps than you can shake a stick at, but I didn't have time to sort through to see which ones had good ratings and were talking about mirroring from an iPhone to a Mac (let alone to an older Mac).
I see. Mr. Jones captured a snapshot of part of
Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
which you can reach by clicking the "AirPlay to Mac" link in
System requirements for Continuity features on Apple devices - Apple Support
The article that misled sberman was
AirPlay system requirements - Apple Support
and that one still has a "March 11, 2024" date and no mention at all of AirPlay to Mac.

Yes, I believe you and Allan Jones are right. I stand corrected.
It's not your fault that the Apple Support article that you used for reference was incomplete. (It failed to mention that you can stream to Macs!). Hopefully Apple will revise the article to fix that.
Agree. The article is lacking. Only on the third read did I find a brief mention of Airplay to Mac at the very bottom, but it feels like it was stuck there at 5PM on a Friday and never revisited:
There is a "Helpful? Yes/No" link a the bottom of the article. We should all use the "no" option that gives a comment box to point out the issue.

That screenshot is very interesting – both for having any mention of AirPlay to Mac, and for the "April 02, 2024" date. I posted a report in the appropriate area of the Lounge saying that the "AirPlay system requirements" article should be revised. Unless I copied the "published" date wrong, it read "March 11, 2024" just the other day.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Hmmm ... followed that link again, and the article at support.apple.com/en-us/101611 still has a March 11, 2024 date, and still has no mention (even in footnotes) of AirPlay to Mac.
Are there two (or more) versions of that article?
