Sonoma 14.4 upgrade problem

I upgraded Mac 21.5 Retina 4K 2019 to Sonoma 14.4 and now I can't use Microsoft Entourage (2008v, I think). So emails, Word, data access and retrieval now prevented. I'm told to upgrade but what to, so that I can access Entourage data etc

Mac Mail hangs and goes to not responding. Since updating to Sonoma 14.4.1, my Mac Mail can be launched and used once, but if I close Mail and later try to relaunch it, it hangs and goes to “not responding.” Force-quitting does not help — just hangs again. Only workaround is to restart the Mac each time I want to use Mail. Also, Preview, Pages, and AirDrop all behaving similarly. Do not want to reinstall the Mail app and lose my saved emails.
