Transfer of data from iPhone SE to iPhone 15 pro fails due to lack of space

we just bought a new iPhone 15 pro and are attempting to transfer the data from a 2020 iPhone SE to it using the Quick Start method. The transfer fails due to insufficient space on the new phone. Both phones are 256 GB and the old phone is only using 178 GB. Any tips?

There might be a discrepancy somewhere with the storage space calculation. Here are some things to try:

Double-check storage on both iPhones:

  • On iPhone SE: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. This will show a detailed breakdown of what's taking up space.
  • On iPhone 15 Pro: Repeat the above steps. Make sure you're looking at the total storage and not available space (which might be lower due to pre-installed apps).
