2024 Apple Pencil Pro “Find My” does not work on 2024 iPad Pro

2024 Apple Pencil Pro “Find My” does not work on 2024 iPad Pro. Apple Pencil Pro shows up in my long list of Apple devices but says “No location found”. It is paired, linked to my Apple ID. What am I doing wrong?

Update: I found instructions someone posted on Reddit a few hours ago, which suggested a fix. I did this, and it worked to fix the "No Location Found" problem. Here's what I did:

1. Unpair your pencil pro from Bluetooth and find my. 2. Restart your

iPad. (Wait 10 secs after turning it off) 3. Snap your iPad to the side

and let it connect. 4. Now go to find my and use the ‘+’ sign to

manually add your pencil.

I went to an Apple Store to the Genius Bar, and there they reset all settings, and worked !!!

Now the Apple Pencil is in Find My.

You have to go Settings - General - Transfer or Reset IPad - Reset - Reset All Settings.

Then you must activate location again of all devices, then go to Find My, connect the Apple Pencil to the iPad and follow instructions.

Please be aware that after these steps you must configure all settings again - Network wifi, Siri, etc.

I had this same issue saying pen already addd and it resolved : Follow this.

Make sure your iPad is completely up the date with software updates.

Then forget the Apple Pencil in Bluetooth and keep removed from iPad.

Power off iPad for 20 full seconds.

Turn on.

then power off again for 20 full seconds.

Then turn back on.

After this go to find my app and add device using the +.

Choose add pen then when it prompts attach pen to iPad.

Do not attach before that. It should allow you to add and it will have location again.

You can simply fix this my going into settings > general > transfer or reset iPad > reset > reset all settings. Then go to Bluetooth and click on Apple Pencil pro and tap on forget this device.

After doing all this soft reset your iPad

process to soft reset, volume up button then volume down button and then press and hold power button until apple logo appears on screen.

After all these simply go to find my and try adding Apple Pencil again, it will surely work. Good luck and enjoy the trouble shoot process

I purchased the iPad Pro 13 inch M4 512gb (Wi-Fi & cellular), with Apple Pencil Pro, and keyboard. Everything worked fine until 18.1. The Apple Pencil works fine with everything except in Find My. It says no location found. I tried resetting settings even un-syncing the Apple Pencil. Going into Find My and adding the Apple Pencil manually it would say Apple Pencil is already in Find My, even though it was not. I was on the phone for 2 1/2 hours with Apple until they bricked my iPad. Taking it to our local authorized Apple repair facility, they restored it with 18.1 and it worked fine for another week and now the Apple Pencil pro says no location found for a second time.

Same issue for me. New iPad Pro with Apple Pencil Pro - Pencil was paired with iPad on setup, and the iPad knows about the Pencil, and FindMy knows about it also. But when I click on Find Nearby, all I get is a "No Location Found" message. I've prompted iPad to Forget This Device, and re-paired it, but get the same result. All of the relevant Location Services are turned on. It seems as if everything is working EXCEPT the feature that shows me where the Pencil is!

FWIW, this iPad was set up using the transfer data method pairing it with my older (2018) iPad Pro, not setting it up as a new device. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

One caveat one this. Once you add your Apple Pencil to Find My, you can no longer turn off the Apple Pencil.

On prior Apple Pencils, and on an Apple Pencil Pro that is not registered to Find My, turning off Bluetooth on the connected iPad results in the Apple Pencil losing its connection to the iPad. This immediately shut down my two prior Apple Pencils (Lightning type and magnetic type). They would keep their charge for months and months in a bag; otherwise they'd drain down to zero in just a week or three.

The Apple Pencil Pro, though, seems to stay on for about 30 seconds after turning off Bluetooth, but then it too will shut down. Once you turn Bluetooth back on on the iPad, the Apple Pencil will no longer be accessible. In Settings, the iPad will say to place the Apple Pencil in its iPad charging spot to re-connect. It will then keep its charge for a looonnnggggg time.

Registering the Apple Pencil Pro with Find My seems to alter the settings so that it never shuts down (makes sense, I guess). I've not yet determined how long the new Apple Pencil Pro keeps its charge like this. I'll be checking that.

So, you have to choose whether to be able to always find your Apple Pencil or to keep it in your bag for weeks unused and always have it charged. (I'd charge my Apple Pencils to 80% before turning them off before, FWIW).

Note: I could add my Apple Pencil Pro to Find My without unpairing it. Just clicking + on Devices in the Find My app on the iPad guided me through this (you just put your Pencil back in its charging spot and authorize the addition to Find My.)
