Apple Watch can’t connect to Matrix gym equipment after 10.5 update.

Issue is FIXED with 10.6 Apple update! Updated my watch yesterday and machines connected perfectly. Apple issue, not Matrix!

It connects just fine to Matrix treadmills after the 10.6 update. So much for it being a Matrix problem. The issue is resolved. I updated watch and went to the gym to verify. It worked!!!

Update to 10.6 fixes the treadmill issue. It works!

There have been several users reporting similar issues with gym equipment in this community, and this looks like a watchOS 10.5 issue.

You should tell Apple directly about it by using the Feedback link, which is the only way to reach them.

I have previously been dealing with Apple and they said it is Matrix software that is not compatible with the 10.5 update. I spoke to Matrix yest to confirm this. They are both working together for a software update to fix the problem. She did not have an ETA when this would be completed unfortunately.

I haven’t even seen where they acknowledge that a problem exists. But I did turn off the auto update feature in the watch. Also of unfortunate note, the technicians don’t read the threads. So you have to submit an online ticket. How out of touch with the consumer could you get? For the record, the standard ‘canned’ advice provided by others ie. forced reboot, toggle and toggled the auto detect gym equipment is generic and not applicable here. There was info floating around about Matrix needing to update their equipment firmware. That seems to be simply ‘passing the buck’.

I have the same exact problem, watch ultra 1, all up to date, restarted phone and watch multiple times, tried 30 machines multiple times since mid may 2024. Watch does not pair with matrix planet fitness brand new machines, new planet fitness, new 2024 machines with the apple logo. This is bizarre!!!

Me too! It’s so annoying, wish Apple would address this. Can’t use any Matrix Equipment. I try every day with all different types of machines. These are brand new 2024 gym equipment. I tried turning the watch on and off and toggling the gym equipment option in settings.

I was always able to connect to gym equipment until 10.5 update. I’ve tried everything from turning off/on detect gym equipment, powering off/on iPhone and watch etc. Nothing is even trying to connect anymore. I spoke to Apple support and they did not have any previous reports of calls related to this. Has anyone found a fix?

Yeah, this stinks my son who has a watch that is not updated can still connect so it is definitely a 10.5 issue

Yep, mine doesn't connect either. I have an Ultra with a recently updated OS. Maybe I'll try to connect my 6 that has no update.

You would think that a product touted for 'fitness' this issue would've already been fixed. I have tried all of the " suggested fixes" even rebooted the treadmill at the gym. I would think that Apple would address this, taking it seriously.
