I have an old iMac and can't remember the password.

I got an old iMac from 2006 or so running but I can't remember the password because I grabbed an old hard drive to put in as the original was dead. There's nothing on it other than the system. How can I boot it up and wipe the drive and reset it so someone could use it?

How do I update a password to let me into/on the computer using the old drive. I can get on my current OS (Catalina) that's on the ssd drive. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Forgot password to old Mac Bought a new iMac. So I wiped out my old iMac 27" and put a new system on it months ago. I forgot the password. Holding Command r only brings up a black screen with a pad lock. When I am on my new Mac under system settings Apple account, I can see my new Mac and old Mac. What do I do to be able to reset my old Mac's password? Thanks

Imac access impossible because of password lost a friend offered me his old IMac but does not remember the password and I cannot access and neither do anything. I tried wrong password but neither give me access to reiinitiate

Startup form the original gray Tiger install disc 1 from the set.

Go to the menu bar and select Utilities > Disk Utility.

Select the Macintosh HD and then Erase.

Then you are all set to recycle it or reinstall Tiger and basically curse someone with an old unusable iMac.
