How to unlock my iPhone, asking for iCloud activation?

An old Iphone 4s needing an activation for icloud lock key, someone just gave it to me. Apparently was just being kept in a drawer for a very very long time.

Is there a possibility to unlock it. He never had details for the phone as was also given to him.

If he doesn't have the details this will be difficult, as activation lock is a theft deterrent system. You can only remove the lock with the details of the Apple ID that the iPhone was paired to, or if you have valid proof of purchase information and you're the original owner you can start an Activation Lock support request.
