Keyboard Sticker / Emoji issue with iOS 17.5

After reinstalling iOS 17.5 on my iPhone using my iMac, I can no longer display only emojis on the keyboard.

Previously, I could hide the stickers with a swipe gesture or by clicking the clock icon. Now, the stickers remain permanently visible, and I can only disable them through the system menu.

I rarely use stickers and hiding them with a swipe was convenient.

The keyboard used to remember this, showing only emojis when I pressed the emoji symbol.

Now, it always shows the stickers first and doesn't remember my preference.

I have deleted and re-added keyboards, reset the keyboard dictionary, and even reset the entire iPhone. Nothing helped. This bug is present in the iOS 17.5 system file when setting up the iPhone anew.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution! Please look in the right direction.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

Sorry, but your answer is absolutely unhelpful. Of course, it’s due to the update. Otherwise, it wouldn't have suddenly appeared. Furthermore, other users in the German-speaking Apple Forum have also noticed that this issue is not just affecting me.

There is definitely a bug at play here, which doesn't affect everyone, but if I download the iOS 17.5 firmware via my iMac and completely reinstall my iPhone without a backup and this error suddenly appears, then it has to be related to the software. Previously, with 17.4.x, I didn't have this problem, at least not for me.
