Iphone saves pictures in 16x9 and 4x3 and saves them with IMG_E

How do i turn that off? When i take pictures in 16x9, why is it saving the same picture in 4x3? It has not been doing this last time in July 23, when i transferred pictures from my phone to my PC. One of the updates must have changed something.

iPhone 5s, iOS 12

The CDS sensor is 4x3. When you take a picture in 16x9 it doesn’t use the whole sensor, so the resolution will be lower than 4x3. As it has the whole image it will save it. Basically, there is no point in taking a picture in 16x9. Take it in 4x3, then crop it to 16x9 if that is what you want. When you shoot 16x9 that’s what you are doing anyway, cropping as you take it.
