Microsoft Word runs very slow on my Mac

I am also having the same issue for MS word. Typing and showing up on screen about 30 seconds later and scrolling to bottom of page takes a million years. Also getting the stupid spinning rainbow curser a lot!!! Really hope there's a solution to this ASAP. I have deleted the normal.dot files but no difference.

I don't know 100% - I've been testing it for the last 30 minutes, and the memory consumption is not rising as fast as before. 30 minutes was enough for the memory consumption to move from 450 MB to 700 MB, and currently, it is steady at 450-550 MB - I'm translating a document from Spanish into Portuguese, so I have to keep both open with two opened documents at the same time with 200 pages each. I will continue to test it.

Yes I am having the same issue! I use my Mac for everything. I cannot even finish writing a paper for school without it freezing and crashing on me. Plus while I am in my work day it is not reliable because it delays the work time I have to spend on a project!

Are you perhaps in the Preview or Beta channel (instead of Current) for updates?

Oh my God, I am having the same problem, also working on my PhD thesis.I have lost some work already. This is really upsetting. I cleaned my mac to make sure it wasn't a malware problem and it isn't. :(

What does this statement "I cleaned my mac" mean? You can recover your files from your backup.

I am having the same problem as everyone else here. And I am cursing Microsoft for charing me $150 a year for Word and it doesn't work! I have read every page of this but I can't see a solution yet. Does anyone have one please? Thank you! Like all of you I am getting desperate and cannot see a fix for this anywhere.

Same problem: slow, gets stuck open, but all other apps work normally. Haven't found a solution yet...

Word is a pig unless you have a lot of RAM installed. So is Excel and Powerpoint. Outlook isn't much better.

How did you go back to the previous version?

Same. If I quit word and reopen, it will be normal for one hour or so but then it gets slow again...

Help, I have deadlines! The sluggishness and freezing is causing major delays for me! I just updated iOS!

Same as others. Word is lagging on MacBook. Hope MS send an update to fix the issue rapidly.

I'm having the same problem, it's very frustrating. I can be working happily for a couple of hors and then for no apparent reason it just slows right down as described by others. What is rthw answer?

Same problem here! It is really frustrating. I am afraid of losing my work.
