Microsoft Word runs very slow on my Mac

Same issue here. 2021 Macbook Pro with 32GB of RAM running Sonoma 14.5, and this problem with Word just started yesterday.

I downgraded to 16.84. Every hour, it just slowed down without any warning. I had to keep quitting and reopening Word. Can Microsoft get anything right ever?

I just updated to Sonoma a couple days ago and my word program is having serious lag. Unusable, and I have a deadline!!! Ugh!!

You’ll just have to wait for Microsoft to fix it. Microsoft has announced they are aware and are working on a fix.

I’m having the same issue. It’s week 12 of uni and i have 6 assignment due in the next 2 weeks and I can use word for more then 30 minutes it’s actually making me lose my marbles.

Same here! It’s only just started happening and I’m losing a lot of work.

That's just a coincidence. It's 100% a Microsoft issue, not a Mac OS issue.

Downgrade to the previous version.

I just saw a post that said 16.85.2 was available? I can’t find it. Bueller Bueller?

Apparently, the problem is resolved in Version 16.85.1 However, Office has not automatically updated to 16.85.1 - does anyone know how to force a download of 16.85.1

I Downloaded and installed the most recent WORD 16.86. It did not solve the problem. Whatever was broken back in 16.84 remains broken.

Have you bothered to read previous posts? Microsoft released an update today that many find has fixed the issue. Try it sometime.

How do you install the .4? I only know how to do the last version.

don't save the word file on your desktop , just have it anywhere else and try ..
