Set-up language change

New Apple 2022 10.9-inch iPad (Wi-Fi, 64GB) - 10th generation. This is my third iPad so I wasn’t expecting any problems. Opened new iPad. Set-up language is in French. I understand French so clicked on Royaume-Uni (United Kingdom) but the language remains French. Is anyone able to get me out of the starting blocks, please? Thanks, in advance.

The first startup screen should be a multilingual “hello” which if you tap it offers a choice of languages including English (if I remember, this is top of the list). If you have not continued through the French setup suggest power down and start from scratch, this time searching the drop down list for English.

If you have already completed the setup in French it might be a little more complex, to wipe and start clean, or to reset everything in Settings. Try settings > General > Language & Region as a starting point.

As every English sports fan knows, it doesn’t matter who wins as long as it is not France!

Thank you so much for confirming my thoughts of doing a set-up in French and then having problems changing the language to English! I have therefore held back from doing that and will now attempt to start from scratch in the hope of securing English for the set-up. All very frustrating!

As far as France is concerned, if they are the better team in whatever sport, they therefore deserve to win. As you’ve probably gathered, I’m on the side of (and support) superior athleticism. 😊
