Is geotag data lost when transferring videos over from iPhone to Windows via USB?

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that when I plug my iPhone into my Windows PC and copy files over from the DCIM folder, I can see the GPS coordinates of (static) image files on my PC by viewing Properties and seeing the Details tab.

When I do the same with video files I have transferred over (for example, .MOV files), I don't see any location coordinates given even when the original video actually did have geotag information that could be seen on my iPhone. Is this information lost when you transfer videos over from iOS to Windows via USB, or is it still stored somewhere in the video file that isn't as readily accessible?

Thanks in advance.

I guess Windows just can not read those movie location tags. Apple's mobile devices use 'Keys' for many movie internal metadata tags (GPS, date, title, author, description, keywords). Maybe Windows wants to use some other tag like 'UserData' or 'ItemList'? If yes, you could use apps like exiftool to copy them to those tags. See also:
