Which USB-C splitter is compatible with Mac for charging and data transfer?

My screen and battery are completely dead, so I'm trying to use target disk mode to transfer files from my old mac to my new one. I bought a usb-c splitter, but the laptop doesn't seem to power on when using it. Is there a usb-c splitter that works for this laptop that both allows me to charge it while transferring files?
