Where would I see the ‘word count’ in a Pages document, once I ‘show word count’?

iMac with Pages ver 14

When I click on Pages>View>Show Word Count (which then changes to Hide Word Count), where does the word count appear? That is, where do I actually view it?

I expect it to be somewhere on the right side below Document/Section/Bookmarks, but if it's there, I don't see it.

I don't know where else to look for it.

Thank you for your help.

The floating panel that appears at the bottom of the Pages document when you select Show Word Count may default to character count. You click on the right ↕︎ symbol on that floating panel and a menu appears showing counts for different measurements. When you select words, Pages will display that value on the floating panel — if there are words to measure.

When you start a new document from a blank template, the only measurement before you enter any content is the page. You may find that as you enter content, you have to reselect words again if that is the measurement you wish to track. You can get a count of any selected text too.
