I use smart dns on Apple TV and set up manual dns. After the new update with manual dns the Apple TV not connect to the internet anymore. Maybe someone know a solution.
Actually, after doing more troubleshooting, it seems that the issue could most likely be the DNS and more specifically, a specific IP that I am using from that DSN provider. I changed to a different IP and it works. Still waiting on the DNS provider to reply to my emails.
Contact Smart DNS - they provided the IP, it’s their problem. Good luck!👍
DNS provider confirm that the DNS IP for what I love is not working at the moment and to use a different one which I did.
Have you contacted Smart DNS? Only they can help - this isn’t an Apple TV problem.
What do you mean any? Does automatic DNS work? Does manual 8.8.8.8 work for normal stuff? If it’s only Smart DNS IPs, it’s for Smart DNS to figure out.
Hello, I am having the same exact problem here Using a Smart DNS and Apple TV not working. Once I remove it, everything works and with DNS set to manual, nothing works. For those that said that it is the DNS provider, I work in IT and I don't really think it the latest update. I have multiple ATV and none of them work with the same update.
It could be - but by design, since Smart DNS is a service for confusing location. So IMO you won’t get anywhere with Apple on this.
That is very true but it could be that 17.5.1 messed up manual DNS to where if you enable that, it won't allow you to connect to anything. We will see what my Smart DNS provider says.
I can confirm that manual IP assignment doesn’t work, but manual DNS does without issue. I don’t know what to make of it frankly, but could be related. It’s not bothering me but I’d wait it out for the next update from Apple, might fix.
That’s what I mean. My IP is automatic from my router but the DNS is setup manual which doesn’t work. The moment that I put my DNS to auto, everything works. I have contacted my DNS provider to see what they say.
Exactly after the update yesterday it’s not working with any manual dns I put in.
Update... it could still be something with with 17.5.1 update that I have on The Apple TVs but my iPad is also not working with the Smart DNS setup.
I have already contacted and seeing what they say. It could still be the 17.5.1 update that is common with the TVOS and iPad OS as well.
I have no issue with manual DNS. The issue is with your DNS provider. Good luck!
