Why do I see a red X on my Apple Watch even though I added cellular?

ive noticed the past month when im away from my phone the red x appears at top. how can this be fixed? everything is connected. what's the point in paying more if it doesn't work??

Did you try to connect manually to the cellular network, by taping on the Cellular Icon in the Control Center?
