Apple Watch cellular coverage to receive calls.

We currently have service with Xfinity and have noticed that if we don't take our phones with us when we go out, but rather try and use our apple watches, we can make calls, send and receive texts but receiving calls is intermittent if none at all.

Of AT&T or T- Mobile or another provider, has anyone been able to successfully accomplish what I thought would be simple operation.

Ingo2711, Xfinity does support the Apple Watch. One of the few NVMO’s that do.

RK1886fromlondon, my Wife uses T-Mobile for her Apple Watch and iPhone. It works both calling and receiving phone calls. However, where we live, coverage is sometimes spotty. At home we have WiFi calling, and when we are out and about, T-Mobile is good.

T-Mobile has been getting better over the years. But depending on your region of the country, Verizon and AT&T have the best coverage.

Having said that, I think Xfinity uses Verizon as is carrier, you should not have the issues you are having.

Also, Xfinity does not support UMTS. So in case you can not connect to LTE, your watch can not do anything cellular data related.

...

Your Apple Watch with cellular automatically switches to the most power-efficient wireless available: It can connect to your iPhone when itʼs nearby, a Wi-Fi network, or cellular. When your watch connects to cellular, it uses LTE networks. If LTE isn't available, your watch will try to connect to UMTS if your carrier supports it.
