FCPX sorting clips in library doesn't match up with timeline

I use my GoPro and iPhone for recording video. Both are set to the same date and time. When I import footage from both to the library it's in nice chronological order by content created time and date. Even file names are different for GoPro and iPhone, however, when I place all footage at once into a timeline using cmd A and E the order is incorrect, and usually iPhone footage is last in a timeline. How to sort this out?

You have to make sure nothing has been selected manually. If you click a clip it selects it. The default behavior is to edit in the order in which the clips are selected, i.e. clicked on. If you're careful, and drop everything, Shift-Cmd-A, don't click anything and use Cmd-A Cmd-E, they will go in browser sort order.
