MacBook is Rebooting When Waking it up!

Hi guys,

My MacBook is Air M2 13.6 ; OS: Sonoma 14.5

The issue is that when I put the Mac into sleep and try waking it up instantly, it's jut rebooting.

Before upgrading to Sonoma, the issue was also there but with different symptoms that's instead of the Mac reboots itself, it was just getting stuck with a black screen till I force shutdown using the button.

I just did hardware diagnostics and the results indicated that there was not any issue found.

Did you please ever have any similar issue?

What are your thoughts?

Can anyone with a MacBook Air do me a favor and try sleeping the Mac and rebooting it instantly so that we can see if it's somehow general or it's only on my side?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Try and boot the mac in the safe mode to see if the issues persist

Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

if the issue does not persist in the safe mode it is caused by an external piece of software, you might want to evaluate the software installed to your Mac
