iPad Pro Magic Keyboard only half lit?

2018 magic keyboard, white. Is there a reason that only the left side of the keyboard lights up? I’ve tried restarting, charging etc, but the same left most keys are the only ones that light up. Do the LEDs go bad in this keyboard or am I overlooking another solution?
