How can I prevent my AirPods from switching to my Apple Watch?

While listening to stuff on my phone, my air pods decide to switch to my watch. If I forget device on my watch it forgets the pods on ALL devices. Turning off blue tooth on the watch doesn’t allow my watch and my phone to do what I want. Ugh! How can we all work together? I just want pods for my phone.

TIA!

Try to turn Off Auto-Switching

Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the information icon for your AirPods. Scroll down and tap Connect iPhone. If this menu doesn't appear, make sure your AirPods are connected to the device in question.Automatically is selected by default.

To turn that off, tap When Last Connected to This iPhone. With this setting enabled, you'll now have to proactively connect your AirPods to this device by navigating to Settings > Bluetooth > your AirPods.
