iPod Nano won't sync after Apple Devices and new iTunes

For months, iTunes would often not load on my Windows 11 PC. Last week, I installed the latest version (12.13.2.3), which solved the problem. I also installed Apple Devices. Now iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod Nano 7th Generation. Unfortunately, I learned I'd forgotten to set up System Restore on my new laptop so I can't roll back the new software.

I listen to podcasts and audiobooks on an iPod to preserve my iPhone battery and let me conveniently listen in bed. I have synced them with iTunes for years, but now I can't sync new ones.

How can I fix this? Or is there another way to directly download podcasts and Audible books to my iPod?

turingtest2, I reinstalled iTunes and then I followed your instructions in the link. Still no luck. I wonder whether the problem was caused by installed Apple Devices, the latest iTunes, or both.

Apple Devices. This should only be installed if using the Apple Music and/or Apple TV apps, which in turn prevent iTunes from functioning correctly.

Unfortunately, Apple didn't explain this. I don't use Apple Music or Apple TV apps. My primary interest in Apple Devices was to better manage my iCloud photos in File Explorer.

Now, what can I do? I installed iTunes 12.10.11, but it can't read my iTunes library because I installed a newer version. I can't find earlier library versions in Windows File History or IDrive.

Would removing Apple Devices fix things? But then I would still have an inoperable iTunes because of the newer library.

What would you recommend at this point? I appreciate your help.
